Clean out your closets and refresh your wardrobe! Gather friends and neighbors for a clothing swap party to benefit Family-to-Family. You’ll go home with a bag of new (to you!) clothes for you or your kids… and Family-to-Family will get a donation to help us grow. We hold a clothing swap party here in Hastings every year and we LOVE it! Click here to learn more!
Last month we sent out an appeal for basic household items to help an elderly woman and her daughter in rural Arkansas, and the response we received from donors was overwhelming! Our community partner in Montrose, Arkansas had rescued the two women from their home in the woods, where they had been living without electricity or heat, and found them a new home, but they had basically nothing to call their own. Thanks to many of you, box after box filled with pillows, dishes, blankets, clothing, a vacuum cleaner and much much more (even a holiday tablecloth and little reindeer!) helped welcome them into their new home.
Thanks to our generous “Holiday Angels,” the moms and dads of 89 children living in poverty in Orlando, Florida had gifts to wrap and give to their children on Christmas morning.
Each “angel” was sent the first names, ages and clothing sizes for children in one family. The best part? Parents without the means to buy gifts for their children were able to give to their own kids.
A big thank you to everyone who donated for turkeys and to those of you who made Thanksgiving baskets for families in need !!!
We were able to provide a turkey plus a side for all of our sponsored families. We even have enough left over to provide December holiday meals for the families we help!
An Evening of Giving!
To celebrate the one year anniversary of our “Share Your Beauty” giving initiative, Family-to-Family, Lara Eurdolian of PrettyConnected.com and LeSportsac teamed up for a “bags of beauty” giving party!
Beauty industry guests at the event filled to the brim donated LeSportsac cosmetic bags with perfumes, lotions, makeup and more for teens and young women in need living at New York City’s Covenant House youth shelter. The party, at LeSportsac’s Madison Avenue store in NYC, was our 5th Share Your Beauty event. Over the past year more than 32,000 beauty products have been donated and delivered to women and teens who are homeless or victims of domestic violence, providing them with what we hope is a little “sparkle and dignity.” Learn more.
Our newest addition – a workplace hunger relief project… Let’s Do Dinner!
In Yonkers, New York, managers at the Stew Leonard’s grocery store joined together to donate and assemble all groceries needed for 33 “dinners in a bag,” each complete with a corresponding recipe. The bags were donated to a local food pantry and given out to families struggling to put food on the table.
