Sponsor A Rivertowns Family
Help provide a family in Hastings-on-Hudson or Dobbs Ferry (N.Y.) with monthly groceries.
If you’re a resident of the Rivertowns in Westchester County, New York, consider sponsoring a family in need in your own (and our own) community! Family-to-Family is based in Hastings, and we provide 80+ struggling local families with a grocery gift card here every month.
Unlike our other sponsorship programs, to protect privacy, the names of the local families we help remain anonymous, since they and their sponsors live in the same community. After you sign up, we’ll assign you a family identified only by an alphabet letter, e.g., “Family B,” and a brief description, such as “Family B. is a single mom with two elementary school children.”
In Hastings, we work with the village Youth Advocate program at the James Harmon Community Center, where our contact, JoAnn Reed, recommends the families that need help, and distributes Foodtown grocery gift cards. In Dobbs Ferry, we work with Robin Larkins at the nonprofit SPRING, who distributes Stop & Shop cards to the families there.

If you’re matched with a Hastings family, consider shopping for a non-food basic essential each month for “your” family. We list suggested “Monthly Drive” items one our website HERE. Drop off your extra item(s) at our office each month by the date on our Monthly Drive page, and we’ll make sure your sponsored family gets it, along with their grocery gift card.
To sponsor a family in Hastings or Dobbs Ferry, choose any one of the monthly recurring donation amounts below. In some cases we’ll match both you and another donor with one family (combining donations), and in other cases you’ll be the sole sponsor.
