A special thanks to the folks at Dannon DannonMixer4who just donated 50 brand new, unopened electric mixers to Family-to-Family.  We passed them on to women struggling to get back on their feet who are living at the YWCA in White Plains, New York and at WIN (Women in Need) in New York City.

We’re proud to announce that The National Foundation to End Senior Hunger has joined the Family-to-Family community as donors to our Sponsor A Family program. Using a grant they received from the Jack and Eleanor Borden Fund, the Foundation is now sponsoring two families from our Kew Gardens Hills, New York community with monthly groceries.  The fund was established to help Jewish senior citizens who might otherwise go hungry.  Read more.

Last month we sent out an appeal for basic household items to help an elderly woman and her daughter in rural Arkansas, and the response we received from donors was overwhelming!  arkansas momOur community partner in Montrose, Arkansas had rescued the two women from their home in the woods, where they had been living without electricity or heat, and found them a new home, but they had basically nothing to call their own. Thanks to many of you, box after box filled with pillows, dishes, blankets, clothing, a vacuum cleaner and much much more (even a holiday tablecloth and little reindeer!) helped welcome them into their new home.

Thanks to our generous “Holiday Angels,” the moms and dads of 89 children living in poverty in Orlando, Florida had gifts to wrap and give to their children on Christmas morning. WP_20141220_016

Each “angel” was sent the first names, ages and clothing sizes for children in one family.  The best part?  Parents without the means to buy gifts for their children were able to give to their own kids.

Other ideas? Stuff a Holiday Stocking, or Make a Holiday Dinner Basket for a struggling family. We’ll link you with a local food pantry where you can drop it off.
