Rivertowns Grocery Gift Card Drive
Urgent! Join our effort to keep food on the table for our Hastings on Hudson and Dobbs Ferry neighbors in need!
The walls are closing in on the 200+ families and seniors in need in our local Rivertowns community.
With SNAP only partially funded this month, the Feeding Westchester food bank running short on basic staples due to federal cuts, AND grocery store prices continuing to climb, it’s becoming alarmingly difficult for many of our neighbors to put food on the table. Healthy food in particular is increasingly out of reach, as families must choose between paying rent and using their dollars for healthier, more costly groceries.
We’re also seeing a surge in the number of families needing help.
In Hastings, our community partner at the Hastings Youth Council reports 72 families came to the food pantry the last week in October, up from a typical 40-50 families. Our partner at SPRING in Dobbs Ferry is seeing the same thing—the number of registered families in need is up 20% in the last two months.
HOW CAN YOU HELP?
We hope to provide this growing number of local families (those we already sponsor plus the newly in need) with extra $50 grocery gift cards for either Foodtown (for Hastings families) or Stop & Shop (for Dobbs Ferry families) so they can purchase the groceries they need to feed their families. These cards will cover grocery items not available from our local food pantries, or not available in large enough quantities. Our community partners in Hastings and Dobbs Ferry will distribute the cards based on need… helping to ensure that they can offer help to everyone who walks through their doors.
Please consider a donation below to provide a grocery gift card for a local family. Any amount is welcome, and thank you!
