Family-to-Family Teams Up With Local Restaurants to “Bust Hunger”
Launches the Let’s Do Dinner! project
Making change…for a dollar
October 30, 2014 – Family-to-Family, Inc., the national nonprofit hunger relief organization based in Hastings on Hudson, N.Y., has joined forces with local Westchester County and New York metropolitan area restaurants to debut Let’s Do Dinner!, a two-week fundraising effort aimed at extending the organization’s reach to help more families in need.
Inspired by the popular “restaurant week” format, for the two weeks between November 1st and 15th, participating restaurants will donate either $1.00 from each customer’s check or a set amount from its proceeds to Family-to-Family.
“We’re thrilled by the support we’re receiving from our community’s restaurant owners,” Pam Koner, Family-to-Family’s founder says. “Our effort to engage our neighbors to “give where they live” is truly being endorsed by our local restaurant community.”
Family-to-Family’s hyper-local focus engages those with “enough to give” with those with profoundly less. Donated funds from participating restaurants will benefit families struggling to put food on the table in the Rivertowns and beyond.
Restaurants taking part in the effort include Fred’s in New York City; and Juniper, Maud’s Tavern, Pizza Grill, Slices, Station Café and Taiim Falafel Shack in Hastings on Hudson.
“We pride ourselves on providing assistance to all worthy and community-based causes,” Taiim Falafel Shack owner Zamir Iosepovici says. “Our support for the ‘Let’s Do Dinner’ project reflects our continued commitment to those who, from time-to-time, may need a “helping hand.”
Family-to-Family plans a second “Let’s Do Dinner!” restaurant event for December.
