Holiday Dinner Baskets
Make Holiday Dinner “Baskets” for Struggling Families in Your Town
A Hands-on Way to make the holidays “Happen” for Your Neighbors in Need
Looking for a concrete way to give this holiday season?
Ask family, friends or volunteers at your office (or at your place of worship or social club) to put together baskets or bags of holiday dinner staples for families in need. It’s simple!
Ask each volunteer to shop for the items on the list below.
1 canned ham or cooked ham
2 cans of Green Beans
2 cans of Yams
1 Bag of Marshmallows
Brown Sugar
2 cans of Corn
1 can Cranberry Sauce
1 box or bag of Stuffing Mix
1 box Instant Mashed Potatoes
(or) 1 box Scalloped or Au Gratin Potatoes
1 box of Corn Bread mix
2 boxes Macaroni and Cheese
1 Non-Perishable Dessert (e.g. pumpkin pie filling, cake mix)
Holiday Napkins and plates!
Have everyone bring their groceries to your home, office or other central location, in either reusable grocery bags or a laundry basket. Then, a few volunteers from your group can drop everything off at a local food pantry.
How to find a local pantry? Google the words “food pantry” along with your zip code to find a nearby pantry, and then contact the pantry about dropping off your donations.
