Join our effort to put food on the table in all of our sponsored communities during this time of crisis.

As we all learn to navigate this new reality, Family-to-Family is above all focused on trying to ensure that during this crisis, both our local community partners in Hastings on Hudson, New York and all of our other 38 community partners across the U.S. are able to provide emergency food assistance to everyone who walks through their doors.

That means not only the impoverished families we already sponsor in those communities, but also the newly unemployed seeking help for the first time. Many of our partner organizations are already stressed beyond their capacities. In Orlando, Florida, to name one, our community partner has reported a startling surge in the numbers of families coming to her food pantry for food, and at the same time the supplies she relies on are lower than normal.

Many of our current recipient moms and dads have increased needs as well — many have lost jobs, and with little or no financial reserves, are struggling even more than before to obtain basic life essentials for themselves and their children. For those families with children that usually rely on free or reduced-price meals at school (often both breakfast and lunch), the school closures were not just an inconvenience; they were an emergency. To address all this we have doubled the grocery gift cards many of our sponsored families receive to meet their changed circumstances. We have also increased the number of families we sponsor in each community that has experienced increased need.

But the need is still growing. Our goal is to both continue to support the growing number of newly struggling families by providing them with a monthly food supplement, and support our partner organizations so they can provide groceries and other basic supplies (diapers, toiletries, paper goods) more easily to everyone who walks through their doors.

Thankfully, the issue of food insecurity for these vulnerable families is one we can actually do something about, right now. With your donation to our designated Covid-19 Emergency Food Fund, we’ll be able to help our “neighbors” in need to obtain extra food when needed.
