Seeds for Change

Helping Families Help Themselves

To promote self-sufficiency and at the same time bring healthy foods to impoverished rural families, F-to-F has started a seed donation program to encourage families to grow their own fruits and vegetables.

Participating is easy. Just purchase seeds from your local gardening or hardware store, or order them online, and send them directly to any of our community partners listed below. Your seeds will also help restock our Victory Garden project families!


Any of the following seeds are useful:


beans
beets
blueberry
broccoli
cantaloupe
carrots


corn
lettuce
mustard greens
peas
peppers (all kinds)
seed potatoes

spinach
strawberry
tomatoes
turnip greens
watermelon

Collecting and sending the seeds can be a good school, church, mitzvah or scouting public service project as well. Or have each child invited to a birthday party bring a packet of seeds along! Read about Giving Parties.
